Welcome

The Deborah Kaye School of Dance-LLC has been in operation in Oxford and the surrounding area since 1974.  Our studio is a member of the Southern Association of Dance Masters, Dance Teachers United and Professional Dance Teachers Association. Classes include ballet, lyrical, tap, jazz, hip hop, tumbling, and cheerleading. In 1996 we began our Stompin’ Seniors Tap Class. In 2005 DKSD added a complete adult dance program including classes in ballet, jazz, hip hop, yoga, belly dancing and ballroom dancing. Our adult program is under the direction of Ginger Newsome and the Ballroom dance program is under the direction of David Cox of Dancequest Oxford.

During our 32 years in operation, our students have competed and won titles on the local, state and national levels, including Miss Teen USA. In the summer of 2005 one of our students, for more than 10 years, Natalie Wood, won the title of Miss Mississippi Outstanding Teen, the new division of the Miss America pageant for teens age 13-17. Natalie also won the talent award on the evening of her talent competition. She attended the Miss America Outstanding Teen pageant in Orlando, Florida. Many of our students have become cheerleaders in high school and college, perform in school plays, earn places on dance teams at the high school and college levels and some have chosen to teach dance or open their own studios. DKSD has had a student and 3 teachers who have spent summers as interns at Broadway Dance Center in New York City as a start to their professional dance careers.  We offer students an opportunity to attend dance workshops and competitions taught by leading master teachers from across the US. DKSD is now also working with NY-LA-Nash, a talent and modeling agency as a means to open opportunities for commercial, tv and live performances for their students.

Every spring, our studio showcases our students through our annual recital.  The Deborah Kaye School of Dance LLC travels to New York City each year to offer students an opportunity to study dance at Broadway Dance Center, attend Broadway Shows and tour the city. In July of 2003, DKSD proudly presented a group of students in their first ever New York City performance, on the deck Navy ship, the USS Intrepid.

DKSD organized a competitive dance troupe in May of 2002. Auditions are held each May and a team of 25-30 students are selected to intensify their dance training, compete and perform through the year. The troupe also attends master workshops through several times a year where they take master classes from top teachers and performers in their field from across the country. Each year, DKSD hosts a workshop for their students with guest teachers from New York and Los Angeles.

From 2000-2002, DKSD was home of a competitive cheerleading squad for students in 3rd-9th grades, The Oxford All Star Jaguars. The squads won many 1st-3rd place titles in the Universal Cheerleading Regional and Invitational competitions, including a bid for Nationals competition in Disney World.
